About us

King’s College London is an internationally renowned university, dedicated to driving positive & sustainable change in society and realising our vision of making the world a better place. The university is ranked 11th in the world and 2nd in the UK in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. King’s Business School (KBS) has been on a rapid, upwards trajectory, and now serves over 3,500 students representing over 80 different nationalities and comprises around 170 faculty. KBS has triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA; achieved a top decile REF 2021 result; and been ranked 3/122 in the Complete University Guide 2025.

KBS is distinctive amongst business schools in having a department devoted to public services management and organisation (PSMO). PSMO brings together scholars working across management and organisation studies, to study work practices, the professions and the public services. Members explore some of the most complex and pressing issues faced by modern organisations, from the challenges of managing wicked public policy problems to the implications of new technologies for work & organising. We address these concerns by examining the ways in which organisations are rooted in broader social & political systems, structures, processes and practices. The Department runs two Masters programmes (MSc in Public Policy & Management; MSc in Management & Technological Change), and contributes to the full suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education courses within the Business School.

About the role

The Public Services Management & Organisation (PSMO) department is seeking to recruit an exceptional scholar to join us as Professor of Management & Organisation.

You will be a scholar with an international reputation and will be recognised as having made a significant contribution to research on public management, organisational studies of public services, and/or the professions. If successful, you will be expected to strengthen the Business School's research capacity, with a track record of publications in internationally leading journals. You will also have a wider commitment to, & experience of, funded research and/or research impact.

As an incoming professor, you should be keen to support early career researchers and contribute to the wider academic leadership of the department, faculty and university. King’s Business School is ambitious and offers scope for new developments. Therefore, a willingness to build networks, support the delivery of high-performing teaching programmes, promote interdisciplinarity & research excellence, and ensure student satisfaction, are all highly desirable. The post is open to an outstanding social science scholar, whether they are currently based in a business school or another relevant department.

King's is committed to equality, diversity & inclusion and through this appointment it is our aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week) & you will be offered an indefinite contract. Our core hours are 09:00 until 17:00, however we are open to flexibility within this, which can be discussed at the offer stage if you are successful.
