Support for the education team will include tasks around the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Doctoral Training Programme which funds PhD training across all the disciplines of Physical Sciences and Technology, the STEM Widening Participation Internship Scheme and more generally assisting the whole education team as needed, including our Director and Deputy Directors of Education. There will also be the opportunity to support the Faculty Board and various academic promotions schemes. This is a broad role and the role holder will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of processes, activities and colleagues across the School.

This is a varied and fast paced role and we are looking for someone who is capable of managing their own time and prioritising their workload, with the guidance of other team members as needed. It is an opportunity for someone to be a key part of the varied education agenda within the School of the Physical Sciences.

Your Skills

  • Highly meticulous, accurate, and organised.
  • Quick to adapt to change.
  • Able to work under pressure and with a wide and complex workload.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Conscientious and willing to contribute to the continuing success of the team.

This is a role that might suit someone who wishes to develop a career within higher education administration; there will be opportunities to engage with academic and professional services colleagues within the School and the Departments and central functions.

The role is a full time one, but we would be prepared to discuss, with a suitably qualified candidate, whether there was scope for working at slightly less than full time or to work flexibly around childcare or other commitments.
