Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: till 31st December 2025

You will join a dedicated team who strive to continuously inspire our students and wider University community – and, through modern teaching and impactful research, continue to deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

The post holder will be responsible for actively leading and participating in postdoctoral level R&D activities related to beyond 5G network management at the UWS Beyond 5G Hub, which is a leading research team in Europe. You will focus on investigating, implementing, and evaluating intelligence beyond 5G networking technologies, as well as leading the development of an end-to-end, closed-loop approach for autonomous 5G/6G network operation, particularly for cybersecurity management. The individual will primarily concentrate on the EU RIGOUROUS project whilst also contributing to other relevant tasks in projects at the UWS Beyond 5G Hub.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Networks, Telecommunications, Electronic & Electrical Engineering or related areas (including PhD candidates who have submitted their PhD theses and expect to pass their viva soon), or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven successful experience of designing and implementing 5G or cybersecurity related networking solution(s) through software development.
  • Proven successful experience in integrating different components together to create a complete system.
  • Proven successful experience in creating demos for a functional ICT system.
  • Proven successful experience of working on a project involving teamwork.
  • Experience of publishing academic papers in peer-reviewed journals.
