Our dedicated Teaching Fellow team are subject specialists focused on delivering student education, which is active, social, applied, and inclusive within our vibrant and varied education environment.

 A key focus of our 2030 Strategy at Coventry University is the ambitious growth of our School of Health and Care to meet the local, national, and global health and care needs of the future. The School delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and post graduate courses for professionals working in health and social care settings including; nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, and public health. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses including Advanced Clinical Practice, Independent prescribing and Global Healthcare Management.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Teaching Fellow to lead the design and development of modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses within the physiotherapy portfolio.  You will be responsible for leading the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment, contributing to the course quality monitoring and enhancement and working with range of external partners and stakeholders.

As Senior Teaching Fellow in physiotherapy you will undertake teaching and module leadership while supporting the development and delivery of programs with innovative teaching and learning approaches to enhance student experience.  You will contribute to curriculum development by actively participating in School’s Curriculum Review and Transformation.

Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams. Based within the School of Health and Care you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience ensuring relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.  

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in appropriate subject and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • Registered Physiotherapist with the HCPC 
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

You will be a HCPC registered physiotherapist with demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education and/or substantial clinical experience and expertise across range of areas within physiotherapy practice.

You will be an experienced team leader who is enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with high-quality presentation skills, ability to mentor and coach other members of the team.

You will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the physiotherapy education and practice, along with a good level of digital fluency and experience creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching.

As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
