The opportunity
We are looking for a Course Tutor to join our Masters of Business Administration (MBA) course based in the Culture and Enterprise Programme at Central Saint Martins (CSM).
MBA places creative practice and social engagement at the heart of future leadership combining critical and analytical thinking, to develop our students and to challenge existing business practice through creative and innovative approaches.
Our students learn key skills to develop as agile and resilient leaders who engage constructively, creatively and confidently with the uncertain to transform systems, cultures and communities.
As a Course Tutor, you’ll play a key role on the course, undertaking teaching, assessment, unit management/coordination and curriculum development. You’ll provide input on course leadership and management and the ongoing development of future strategy.
You’ll also act as a tutor for Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts, in addition to your teaching and learning responsibilities. You’ll also be responsible for duties including but not limited to; co-planning of units, coordination of inductions, up-keep of student attendance, showcase planning and development, and some academic administration.
The MBA is a low-residency course that is delivered through block teaching across intensive weekends and evening webinars. You’ll be expected to work flexibly and support face-to-face activities and online teaching provisions as needed.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues from other departments in CSM and Birkbeck including, Academic Support, Student Services and the wider college community.
The course has undergone course reapproval in 2022, providing an opportunity to join a progressive course team who will review and reframe the course curriculum, design and delivery, paying particular attention to how the course engages with identity and diversity, contested notions of culture, the emergencies of social injustice and climate change, and new relations between conventional and digital environments.
You’ll play a key role supporting the Course Leader with the day-to-day management, delivery, development and coordination of the course, and will undertake teaching, assessment, unit management, curriculum development and research as appropriate for the MBA.
You’ll support the Course Leader in managing a team of Associate Lecturers, alumni and guest speakers and will oversee the expansion of the curriculum at a time of social, technological and ecological change.
About you
As an experienced teacher/academic at PG level, you’ll have experience of assessment, admissions, management and organisation of an interdisciplinary PG course.
Ideally, you’ll have a good understanding of academic leadership, with experience of maintaining and enhancing standards and student experience. Experienced in the fields of Business, Management and Strategy, you’ll also be effective in communicating to diverse audiences in inclusive and accessible ways.
