A postdoctoral scientist position in medical image analysis is available in Prof Tom Wilkinson’s COPD research group, Clinical & Experimental Sciences (CES), Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton (UoS). The group is working on developing new early diagnosis techniques for airways diseases, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), with a strong medical imaging component.
This is part of a collaboration with Dr Michael Bennett (senior research scientist in image processing) at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Prof Wilkinson and Dr Bennett are working on developing ground-breaking methods of early diagnosis of COPD based on machine learning enhanced analysis of x-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging of the lung.
