The role
The Department of Religion and Theology is seeking an effective and qualified Lecturer in Asian Religions to cover a maternity leave position. This is a fixed term 0.8 FTE role starting on 1 Jan 2025 through to 31 Dec 2025.
What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching courses on Buddhism, with a particular focus on Indian traditions, and will also contribute to teaching on Hinduism. In addition, they will undertake other teaching-related activities and administrative duties within the department, as appropriate.
You should apply if
You should apply if you hold a PhD in Asian Religions or a cognate discipline (or be near completion of their doctorate) and have the knowledge and expertise appropriate to teaching areas specified at mainly undergraduate levels. You should have the ability to work collaboratively with others in teaching and scholarship, to engage and enthuse students in both small and large group teaching and to provide effective academic support for students, including one to one.
