A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Fellow to join the Driving the Electrical Revolution Industrialisation Centre as part of the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham for a new funded programme. This is an insulation systems and motor reliability focused project that will provide new research in delivering compact, efficient and reliable electrical machines for more electric aerospace and heavy transport applications.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Research Fellow to drive forward and support the aligned research work at Nottingham. Candidates must have significant prior experience of experimental and analytical modelling of insulation degradation of related electric propulsion sub-systems, with an established international track record of high impact outputs. We are looking for a self-starting individual with a good mix of practical laboratory skills coupled with in-depth understanding of insulation systems modelling and testing. Significant prior experience of working with high voltage insulation systems is essential. Candidates must also have a successful track record of multidisciplinary research with both industry and academic partners, with a willingness to work in new technical areas related to the programme.

Reporting to Prof Chris Gerada, the role holder will work with the academics, researchers and PhD students in managing and conducting research activities across the programme. The successful candidate will be effective, well organised and will have a calm and positive attitude in working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, sometimes on challenging and complex multidisciplinary issues.

This post is available on a fixed term basis for 2 years. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Pav Orton, email Pav.Orton@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
