This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick.
You will provide technical support for the Superconductivity and Magnetism group, helping to maintain and repair apparatus in the sample preparation and characterisation laboratories of the group. The apparatus includes a range of electrical and mechanical devices including furnaces, pumps, and low-temperature (cryogenic) measurement systems.
You will be responsible for the general support of the research group’s activities, carrying out routine maintenance of equipment and housekeeping in the group’s laboratories.
You will also assist in operating and maintaining the Departmental helium recovery plant.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
You will have a minimum of a HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. You may have experience of working in a similar role in an industrial or research environment.
You will have a strong interest and willingness to learn new techniques and develop new skills. When required, training in the expertise essential for the role will be provided.
You will have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to plan your own workload to ensure that the technical needs of the role are met.
