About Us

Recently re-founded, the Department of Engineering at King’s College London is rapidly expanding into a world-class research and teaching department. Research currently focuses on robotics, telecommunications and biomedical engineering, but we are looking to establish new research themes.  

The Department is supported by an experienced and passionate professional services team, working in partnership with academic colleagues, as well as faculty and central directorates to provide a high-quality administrative support service and student and staff experience.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Programme Officer to support the running of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.   

This role provides essential support to students and academics, taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling and the production of handbooks, using databases and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate student data on progress and achievement, and delivering a high-quality service across the student lifecycle.

Upon joining us, you will receive training and support to allow you to increase your knowledge and further your skills, and you will be able to join networks of colleagues both locally and across the University. In your role, you will collaborate on supervising the work of the team, supporting and managing our Programme Officers by planning and coordinating processes and activities.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. This is a hybrid role, you will spend some of your working week on our Strand campus, and the rest working remotely.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience. Please make sure to include a personal statement in your application to highlight how you meet these criteria.

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent organizational, written, oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences
  2. Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse complex numerical data.
  3. Have a methodical but flexible approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently
  4. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy
  5. Experience of stakeholder management, ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner
  6. Experience of working in a customer facing environment with a knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner
  7. Experience of managing and delivering a portfolio of taught provision, with a proactive, development focused and transparent approach
  8. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities, and requesting and utilising support as and when required
  9. Commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.

Desirable criteria

  1. Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  2. Experience of using virtual learning environments
