Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for a College Lectureship in Economics, associated with a Fellowship of Christ’s College. All fields of Economics are eligible, but preference may be given to those able to teach macroeconomics.

The position is intended to provide a valuable development opportunity to an individual at the beginning of their academic career to allow them to build teaching skills, a publication record and other academic activity with a view to obtaining an academic or policy appointment afterwards. The Lectureship is tenable from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2029 or for a similar period with dates to be agreed and is not renewable or extendable.

The successful candidate will be expected to reside in Cambridge and will be elected to a Fellowship of the College. They will be required to undertake 120 hours of small-group teaching for the College during the academic year (equivalent to an average of 6 hours per week during term time), to act as Director of Studies in Economics when required,to engage in research and publication, and to undertake other College offices or duties appropriate to an early-career appointment if asked to do so.

The stipend will be equivalent to points 43-49 of the Cambridge University scale (currently £40,311 – £46,735 per annum). The Fellow will be a member of the College’s Governing Body and will be expected to sit on a number of College committees, appropriate to an early-career post. The privileges of a Fellowship include seven free meals per week, the possibility of limited financial support for research expenses, a study room for teaching and other academic purposes, and possibly single occupancy residential accommodation in College. The stipend is subject to a reduction if the Fellow chooses to reside in College.
