Join Birkbeck's Information Services Department as a Senior Information Security Analyst and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our institutional systems and data.

As part of the Information Security and Governance team, you will support the Head of Information Security & Governance, providing expert advice and help to manage information security, and taking steps to reduce and remove risks.

As Senior Information Security Analyst, you will help provide expert information security advice to our Information Services, to those managing and operating IT systems in other departments and to the wider College community to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our institutional systems and the data they house.

You will also contribute to appropriate security incident management including maintaining accurate records and following up on responses.

In order to ensure our security arrangements are suitably well implemented and robust, you may undertake penetration testing and other audit activities, at multiple levels, both personally and by commissioning external organisations, and will follow up on implementation of their recommendations.

As a Senior Information Security Analyst, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • In-depth knowledge of information security frameworks and standards.
  • Understanding of current IT threats, vulnerabilities, and legislation.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to use digital forensic techniques.
  • Experience with Cisco networking technologies and Fortinet Firewalls.
  • Experience in managing IT security events and delivering training.

Salary and benefits:
£43,265 to £49,394 per annum, (rising to £43,636 - £49,683 from 03/2025), Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes London Weighting.

Contract:
