The Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge is seeking to recruit three new Faculty members who can contribute to research and teaching in Pure Mathematics from September 2025 (or by agreement).
Appointments will be made at Assistant Professor (Grade 9) which, subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period (3-5 years), leads to a tenured position.
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a closely related subject. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong track record of research excellence and will be able to lecture a range of courses in pure mathematics at undergraduate and masters-level. They will have the ability, or potential, to secure research funding to support their research vision and build a network of collaborators. The post-holder will be part of a world-leading department with strong interdisciplinary connections within Cambridge, the UK and internationally.
The University of Cambridge has been ranked in the top 5 for Mathematics in the QS World Rankings for each of the last 5 years. The Mathematics departments occupy a modern, purpose-built campus, also incorporating the Isaac Newton Institute. As well as relocation costs, start-up packages (up to 3 years) are provided to assist the post-holder in establishing their research in Cambridge. Regular sabbatical leave entitlement enables Faculty to focus on research and scholarship.
