Scholars School System, a project of UK Curriculum & Accreditation Body (UKCAB), a registered charity founded in 2006), is seeking an Academic Manager for all campuses, including Birmingham, Manchester, London, Bradford, and Leicester, based in the Birmingham campus.

Reports to: Departmental Head/Director of Academics Purpose:

The organization seeks to appoint an Academic Manager that will provide strategic vision and leadership at both academic and non-academic levels, developing effective relationships to meet the highest standards and managing curriculum development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership for academic and non-academic activities under the Dean/CEO's guidance.
  • Contribute to institutional strategy in learning and teaching, participating in boards, committees, and panels.
  • Liaise with College Directors for the effective management of academic systems.
  • Develop relationships with Directors to ensure corporate governance standards.
  • Enhance the institution's reputation for academic excellence and engagement.
  • Set deadlines and collaborate with relevant partners.
  • Oversee formative and summative assessments with the Controller of Examinations.
  • Review key documents like student and program handbooks.
  • Manage timetables and curriculum plans.
  • Coordinate learning walks and teaching observations with the quality team.
  • Prepare for partner meetings, including data collation and report writing.
  • Oversee assessment panels, moderation reports, and standardization meetings.
  • Lead student feedback processes across all programs, including module evaluations and surveys.
  • Organize extra-curricular activities such as social events, guest lectures, and workshops.
  • Provide leadership to staff and students and represent the College externally.
  • Manage staff, systems, and resources effectively.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of organization policies.
  • Represent and promote Scholars School System in local and regional forums.
  • Monitor monthly lecturer task sheets and arrange regular progress meetings.
  • Facilitate efficient inductions for new staff members.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Work experience in education and management roles
  • Skills in managing learning, teaching, and staff in higher education
  • Experience in Educational Oversight and/or QAA inspections
  • Involvement in program validation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Understanding of UK higher education sector issues, particularly in learning and teaching
  • Experience managing resources in an educational context

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience
  • Basic hours: 9am to 6pm on-site
  • Occasional trips away from the office are required
  • 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Up to £5k annual incentives (pro-rata, given quarterly upon meeting KPIs)
  • 3% annual increase after successful probation and KPI completion
