The Discipline of Health Promotion invites applications for a Part time (0.4FTE) Specific-Purpose Contract. The postholder will contribute to teaching, coordination and to the development of specialist post graduate modules in health promotion. The planned start date for this role will be January 2025.

The Discipline delivers or contributes to postgraduate and undergraduate programmes across the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the College of Science and Engineering. An active programme of national and international research is in place through the Health Promotion Research Centre, which is designated as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Health Promotion Research.

The Discipline of Health Promotion is a dynamic, multidisciplinary, research active Discipline in the School of Health Sciences, which is responsible for a range of innovative teaching and research programmes at the University of Galway. The School of Health Sciences is committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion within its culture and holds a Bronze Athena Swann award.

The post holder will be expected to deliver teaching and coordination across the range of programmes to which the Discipline contributes including postgraduate programmes in health promotion and occupational and environmental health and undergraduate programmes in health and safety management, social care and medicine and to contribute to development and delivery of specialist postgraduate health promotion modules.

Candidates for this special purpose 0.4FTE jobshare position should possess a PhD qualification relevant to the field of Health Promotion or Public Health and should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, course co-ordination and research skills. Experience in teaching quantiative research with skills in the analysis of large datasets and data management experience is desirable.

Salary:

62,376 to €99,508 pro rata p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer scale in line with current Government pay policy)
