We are seeking to appoint an experienced Research Associate.
The post holder will join the School of Infection and Immunity, MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) and will make a leading contribution to a multidisciplinary research programme focused on understanding the factors underlying the epidemiology of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus in ticks, domestic animals and humans in Uganda. The post holder will be working with the Principal Investigator, Prof Emma Thomson.
The project will focus on a serosurvey of CCHFV and other emerging viruses to understand the prevalence and incidence of these viruses across Uganda.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated in overseeing the teams that will carry out the serosurvey, in designing and executing the experimental design, and in writing research papers relating to the work.
The successful candidate is expected to have experience of working in Uganda and to speak English and Luganda (other Ugandan languages are also desirable). The candidate will contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and funding proposals as well as to participate in the training and supervision of students in the laboratory. The job is expected to include periods of work both in the UK and in Uganda.
