This full-time (36.5hrs per wk) post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
Salary will be from grade D, spine point 18 (Currently £27,344) to spine point 22 (currently £30,505). An additional market supplement up to £32,449 per annum subject to knowledge, qualifications and experience is also available (plus overtime and on call supplement).
About the role
The Engineering and Direct Works department is responsible for a significant proportion of the technical management of the University’s Estate. Its Energy team manage; the multi million pound budget for the supply of gas, water and electricity; the Low Carbon Commitment Implementation Plan to ensure the University is on track to meet its carbon reduction targets; the University’s revolving green energy projects and set and deliver the Sustainable Travel Plan. The dedicated in house maintenance team provides in and out of hours planned and reactive maintenance to what is effectively Devon’s tenth largest, and independently run town.
Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, you will be a member of the operational team working alongside other maintenance operatives in the Electrical, Mechanical, Building & Structural Services.
We are looking for a customer focused team player who can work alone, or in a team and be able to use initiative to prioritise work demands and meet deadlines. Having served a recognised electrical apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 (or approved equivalent), be up to date with the current wiring regulations and hold your 2392/2395 (or equivalent) you will have a working knowledge of testing 230v/415v electrical systems, experience of fault finding and working within mechanical and ventilation plant rooms as well as an understanding of all the relevant health and safety legislation that accompanies these tasks.
