PenCTU Clinical Trials Data Assistant

An opportunity has arisen to join the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit as a Clinical Trials Data Assistant. The Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit (PenCTU) addresses health and social care challenges through the design, development and delivery of national and international clinical trials and other health research studies in a variety of clinical fields.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Clinical Trial Data Assistant to join our Clinical Trials Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the design, collection, and management of clinical trial data. A key aspect of your work will involve assisting in the development and testing of Case Report Forms (CRFs) to ensure that they align with the study protocol and capture all necessary data points. You will be tasked with monitoring the trial data to maintain accuracy and completeness, as well as ensuring the timely and accurate entry of data into secure databases.

Additionally, you will play a vital role in generating data exports and producing regular reports for the trial team. These reports will provide critical insights and updates to support the ongoing study. Throughout all your responsibilities, you will be expected to comply with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations, ensuring the secure handling of sensitive trial data. Collaboration with research teams, trial coordinators, and data managers will also be an essential part of the role, contributing to the overall success of clinical trials and advancing impactful research.

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of trial managers, data managers, statisticians, researchers and clinicians in an academic health services research environment.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate a background in health-related fields, either through further education or relevant experience in a clinical research or healthcare setting. You should be familiar with the processes and procedures involved in clinical trials.

You will have experience working in a health-related or research environment, where attention to detail and data accuracy were key elements of your work. Familiarity with GDPR is crucial, as compliance with these regulations will be a significant part of your responsibilities. You will also be comfortable generating reports and handling data exports, ensuring that all outputs are both clear and accurate.

Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential, as you will be working in a fast-paced environment where meeting deadlines is key. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and data management systems will also be important to support your daily tasks.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours a week.
