The Department of English Language and Literature at Bilkent University, Ankara, invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applications from scholars with research interests in any subfield of British or global Anglophone literatures are welcome.

Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in English or Comparative Literature in hand by May 2025, a good teaching record, and a clearly defined research agenda. Candidates should be able to offer specialized teaching in their research field, and should also be well prepared to teach across various genres and periods in English literature. The starting date for this post is September 2025.  

The Department of English Language and Literature currently offers an undergraduate program that covers British, Irish, and postcolonial literatures, and ranges from the medieval period to the present.  Further information about the department can be found on the department website: http://elit.bilkent.edu.tr.

Bilkent University was founded in 1984 with the fundamental aim of creating a center of excellence in higher education and research; a non-profit foundation university supported by its own endowment, it is home to a vibrant international community. Faculty members come from 34 different countries, and the language of instruction across the university is English. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
