ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST
Reporting to the Campus Support Supervisor and Estates Services Coordinator, as one of 7 Campus Support Assistants, your primary role will be to ensure the maintenance of a safe, secure and customer focussed environment while providing support to the university community, covering all aspects of post, porterage and related activities across the University campus. You will be required to work both as part of a team and independently, without direct supervision, to deliver the high standards of the University.

Candidates should have proven experience working in a customer focused environment, ideally within a team providing facilities management related services or similar. You will be able to communicate effectively, recognise and understand the challenges of working in a campus environment yet also be able to deliver an effective and proactive campus support function. Working across different buildings of the University estate, you will undertake a broad range of responsibilities, including post room duties (delivering, sorting, collecting of post); general manual handling tasks such as setting up rooms and areas for meetings, conferences or events; maintaining centrally timetabled teaching spaces in a fit and proper condition, setting out furniture to required layouts.

ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a customer facing environment and be committed to safe working practices.

You will have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively to staff and students when dealing with their queries and resolving issues in a polite and helpful manner.

You will have good IT skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, and the ability to learn internal systems.

Ideally, you will hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
