Research Assistant

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.

We are looking to welcome a new member to our team, with a research assistant position available to work on the mechanisms that underpin successful immune responses. The successful applicant will work to understand the fundamental biology of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) which form in response to vaccination/infection but are also evident in cancer. Particularly, we are interested in the formation of these structures in lung cancer. The presence of TLS has been well described in lung cancer, as well as many other types of tumours and landmark studies have shown the presence of TLS can predict immunotherapy response. Understanding how these structures form and function should provide a rational way to bolster immunotherapy responses and improve prognosis.

The project will use a wide variety of cellular and molecular immunology techniques. We are particularly interested in recruiting people who have experience in imaging (confocal, whole tissue clearing), single cell RNA sequencing and analysis, bioinformatics and flow cytometry. However, we do not expect an individual candidate to be proficient in these in order to be appointed.

This role reports to Dr Louise Webb (Principal Staff Scientist in the lab of Michelle Linterman, Immunology Program).

This is a limited term appointment with funding for this post expected to be available for a period of 26 months.
