The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is ranked #36 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.

The Centre for Cultural Studies invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Inter-Asia Decolonial Epistemologies. Preferred areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, Environmental Humanities, Critical Humanities, Public Humanities, Cultural Studies, Digital and Interactive Media, and Science and Technology Studies.

Applicants should have a PhD in Cultural Studies, Arts and Humanities, Science and Technology Studies, or related disciplines received within the past five years. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously enjoyed the resources at CUHK, and who would particularly benefit from and contribute to CUHK’s intellectual life. Applicants who can contribute to the intellectual and cultural diversity of the Centre are especially welcome to apply.

The purpose of this fellowship is for conducting independent research on a major project and developing a research agenda in preparation for careers in academia or elsewhere. The appointee will be expected to teach one course in the area of their expertise for the MA in Intercultural Studies Programme. He/She will also network with Hong Kong-based scholars, organise a workshop with international and local scholars on areas related to their research, and participate in the events of the Centre for Cultural Studies.

Applicants should submit the following supporting documents in the online application: (1) a cover letter indicating a preferred supervisor in the Division of Cultural Studies (no prior consent from the faculty member is required); (2) a full curriculum vitae; (3) a research plan (2-3 pages); (4) one sample course outline (2-4 pages); (5) one sample publication in a peer reviewed journal or chapter in an edited volume (or the introduction to their dissertation if no publications are available); and (6) names, addresses, and email addresses of three referees (reference letters will only be requested for short-listed candidates).

Review of applications will begin in January 2025.

Appointment will be made on contract basis for two years commencing August 2025.
