Founded in 1898, we at the University of East London (UEL) are proud to change lives through education. Our goal is to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future. We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and creating a balanced, inclusive, and green future.
But we can't achieve this goal alone. We need forward-thinking, innovative, and curious individuals like you to join our community and help us craft our future. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people who share your passion for creating positive change. We’re an inclusive and welcoming community that is constantly moving forward, never satisfied with the status quo.
About Us
The University of East London (UEL) has been training clinical psychologists for over fifty years. Over the last few years, the Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) programme at the University of East London has been expanding and we are looking for Academic Tutors to join the enthusiastic and committed programme team. Our well-established programme is characterised by understanding psychological problems in a social and cultural context and facilitating the ability to critically reflect on our activities as professionals.
The School of Childhood & Social Care is located at our Stratford Health Campus. The Department of Psychology and Human Development is one of three departments in the school. It is the largest in the UK and has a long-standing leading position in the provision of undergraduate and postgraduate professional training spanning from traditional specialisms to new and pioneering pathways into psychological practice. This is complemented by a strong research profile, commitment to research informed teaching and to promoting a culture of scholarly activities across the academic year. We are a department that drives innovation and excellence in programme development and student experience.
About the Job
As an Academic Tutor you will contribute to the planning, management, and delivery of the academic curriculum; assessment; teaching – online and face-to-face and including small group facilitation; and both supervising and conducting research. You will also act as the individual tutor for a small group of trainees. As most teaching occurs face-to-face (as do some other activities), the post is not suitable for applicants wishing to only work remotely.
About You
You will have a qualification and substantial experience in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology and be registered with the HCPC to practice as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. Previous contribution to Clinical Psychology training programmes is desirable.
Benefits Package
Beyond a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package:
