If you are keen on contributing to the green transition, envisioning a planet running entirely on renewable energy, and looking for the best possible environment for fulfilling your dreams and ambitions, it is right here in front of you. At DTU Wind and Energy Systems we are pushing the research boundaries in the domain of advanced and reliable materials for wind energy applications, with focus on advanced materials for wind turbine blades, improving wind turbine performance, and ensuring more efficient maintenance and protection of wind turbines. The Department of Wind and Energy Systems at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking applicants for a position of postdoctoral researcher in computational modelling of surface degradation and microplastics emission due to erosion of wind turbine blades
This is your opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to making a significant impact on the planet’s future. We offer a multidisciplinary, international, and friendly atmosphere, encouraging creativity, diversity, empathy, and teamwork.
Responsibilities and qualifications
Your main objective will be to develop and validate computational multiscale models of surface degradation and maintenance of wind turbine blades, allowing the evaluation of possible microplastics emission, its outcomes and ways to control it. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will include:
You are expected to have a PhD. degree in materials science, applied mechanics, mechanics, mechanical engineering or related disciplines, and have an experience or good knowledge of mechanics of materials, computational micromechanics, finite element simulations (ABAQUS) as well as programming in a higher-level language (Python, including Numpy package). Demonstrated experience in preparing scientific publications in high level international journals is expected.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
