St Catherine’s College proposes to appoint a 6.5-hour Stipendiary plus 1.25 weighted-hour Non-Stipendiary (Class A) Lecturer in Contract Law for Trinity Term 2025, from 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025 to cover dispensation for a College officership.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach 6.5 weighted hours plus 1.25 weighted hours a week averaged over two terms (sixteen weeks) of the appointment. The post-holder will be responsible for teaching the FHS course Contract Law and supporting students in their final year in preparing for their exams.

The College operates a weighting system whereby hours spent teaching groups larger than one person count for more than one hour). College teaching is in small groups (usually two or three students).

In addition, as a member of the team of Law tutors, the post-holder will be expected to play a full role in the running of Law in the College, including setting and marking College examinations, and taking a role in the pastoral care of undergraduates.

The annual stipend for the Stipendiary Lecturer appointment is currently £16,514, which will be pro-rated for the period of appointment, and is pensionable. The retainer for the Class A appointment is £151.75 for the term. The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room and will be entitled, free of charge, to three lunches and two dinners per week during term-time. Teaching/seminar rooms are available for booking within College.
