The School of Veterinary Medicine and Sciences is looking to recruit an Assistant Professor to further enhance our world class research in the area of Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health. You will join and contribute to this strategic research area with a focus on applying cutting edge technologies to the better understanding and combatting of antimicrobial resistance in a One Health context, applications that use artificial intelligence-driven approaches to this research area are especially welcome. 

You will have a demonstrable track record in one of the following specified areas: AI and/or bioinformatic methods for the study and/or control of AMR pathogens in humans, animals or the environment; multiomics approaches to AMR; big data mining; or bioconvergence. You will be expected to collaborate with one or more of the SVMS’s research strengths in AMR modelling, novel therapeutics, diagnostics and digital data/informatics. The role holder will develop a career-appropriate track record in both research and teaching. You will contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science and you will act as a role model that promotes a positive research culture. Training to PGCHE level will be provided, as required, to support the role holder in teaching delivery.

You will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, and publish high-quality, impactful papers regularly. You will seek and secure funding through the development of your own research proposals and be active in research and knowledge exchange projects both internally and externally. You will take an active role in supervising doctoral researchers and will take responsibility for leading new research and other initiatives linked to your area of expertise.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), permanent contract. Job share arrangements may be considered.
