About us

The King’s College London (KCL) & Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust (GSTT) PET Centre performs both clinical and research PET imaging studies. 

In partnership with Imperial College London, we have been selected by the Medical Research Council as one of two initial sites (London and Edinburgh) for the UK National Total Body PET Imaging Platform (npip.org.uk). Two Siemens Total Body PET Scanners are currently being installed at St Thomas’, and we are embarking on an extensive research programme hosting projects from clinical, academic and industry researchers from across the UK. Studies will performed using an array of radiotracers from our extensive radiochemistry research and production facilities. 

About the role

We are looking for someone with experience of data analysis for PET research studies to join our team of PET experts. The post-holder will perform, supervise, and develop tools for data analysis and data handling to enable extraction of meaningful and robust physiological, biochemical and clinical information from Total Body PET studies, and help us to realize the full potential of this revolutionary new imaging method. 

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30 September 2030. On-site attendance at St Thomas’ Hospital is expected. Some remote working may be permitted.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria 

  1. First degree in maths, physics, computer science, or other appropriate subject 
  2. PhD in maths, physics or computer science applied to medical imaging data, or other appropriate topic 
  3. Extensive computing and programming experience (windows, linux, matlab, scripting, Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc) 
  4. Knowledge and experience of PET methodology including data acquisition, image reconstruction, data analysis 
  5. Knowledge and experience of statistical, image processing and AI methods relevant to PET data analysis
  6. Knowledge or experience of performing data handling and data analysis for PET clinical research studies 

Desirable criteria

  1. Publication track record in developing and using PET data analysis methods including analysis of dynamic data 
  2. Publication track record in contributing to PET clinical research studies 
  3. Experience in data analysis for novel PET radiopharmaceuticals 
  4. Experience in using standard PET data processing tools (E7 tools, PMod etc) 
  5. Experience in developing and using AI-based methods for analysis of medical images datasets
