The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences (SRES) is a young and dynamic school that provides an opportunity to work collaboratively across the sciences of performance, health and rehabilitation. We have a growing portfolio of taught programmes including the British Psychological Society’s accredited undergraduate (Graduate Basis for Chartership) and masters (Stage 1 qualification) in Sport and Exercise Psychology. We are looking for someone who can join our team and share their expertise in the area of Exercise Psychology.
Essex is an ideal home for an academic wishing to situate their research in the area of Exercise Psychology. We have researchers working in the fields of public health, community interventions and clinical practice. Across the University of Essex, health and wellbeing is a substantial part of our research, consultation work and teaching portfolio with the establishment of the Institute of Public Health and Wellbeing, Centre for Costal Communities and the Health and Wellbeing Hub. Essex also has a reputation for leading advancements in data analytics and big data surveys.
The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences is currently recruiting a senior lecturer or reader to join our diverse community of scholars to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and to provide supervision to our growing postgraduate research community.
Duties of the Role
You will develop high quality research and education related to exercise psychology through the establishment of an internationally excellent research programme, the publication of high-quality research papers and the development of innovative approaches to teaching. Other aspects of the role include supervision of postgraduate research students and other leadership, teaching and administration duties as requested by the Head of School.
Skills and qualifications required
You will possess a doctoral level research degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrate a sustained record of effectiveness in undergraduate and postgraduate provision, incorporating the organisation, leadership and management of specific aspects of provision. You will have an established and internationally recognised research profile, with a well-developed future research agenda alongside a strong track record of publications and income generation. You will have an established professional reputation in a relevant area of professional practice alongside significant leadership experience.
As part of the process and to be successful you will be required to demonstrate how you your research has been impactful within and beyond the academic sphere, recognising the importance of this and the effect it will have on the University.
