Job Description: 

About the Role

The Open University is recruiting a customer focused and technically adept analyst to provide the frontline systems support and data analysis to Researchers and other Research systems users.

The post holder will generate regular Management Information reports and deal with ad hoc reporting requests.

Additionally, they will support in house developed (low code/no-code) systems by monitoring errors, answering user queries and documenting new solutions.

They will take ownership of the first line support and the ongoing enhancement of user support guidance.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Production of both regular and ad-hoc reports, drawing on data from multiple sources, primarily using Excel.
  • Provide, email-based, user administration and system use support for research related systems.
  • Produce and maintain user communications and system usage guides.
  • Provide quality assurance of reports produced and the testing of low-code/no-code system and process enhancements.
  • Where appropriate, assist with the ongoing enhancement of research related systems and processes.
  • Undertaking activities as may reasonably be requested by line manager, R&E Senior Managers and the Head of R&E.

Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements 

  • A relevant degree, or equivalent experience
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Evidence of dedication to customer satisfaction
  • Problem solving ability, numeracy, analytical and interpretative skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to disseminate systems information to different audiences
  • Organisational skills including the ability to manage own workload
  • Willingness to take on new or develop existing MS PowerApps skills
  • Ability to work flexibly both independently and part of a team

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in Higher Education sector or sector-related knowledge
  • Power Apps, Power Query, SharePoint experience
