Overview:

We are looking for suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic IT Foundation Tutors to join The Education Group London to teach on the Foundation Programme of our partner university, the University of the West of Scotland. We have One-year positions from September 2024 to August 2025 (subject to passing the probationary period). There may be a possibility of extending the contract on mutual agreement. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Applications will be processed on a rolling basis, so early application is advised.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/post-graduate degree in an appropriate subject area (Essential)
  • Relevant Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent qualification) (Essential)
  • Experience in ELT Teaching (Desirable)
  • Experience of teaching in UK HE/FE (Desirable)
  • Experience in using VLEs and online teaching tools (e.g. Zoom or Microsoft Teams) (Desirable)
  • Problem-solving and strong communication skills
  • Applicants for the advertised posts need to have the space and equipment at home, plus the skills to be able to deliver classes remotely
  • Capability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload 

Role Responsibilities:

  • To teach high-quality lessons to groups of university Foundation Programme students
  • To teach native and non-native, mature students
  • To comply with all registration processes in accordance with the partner institution’s attendance policy and engagement policy
  • To provide a highly supportive learning environment for students
  • Arranging and interviewing students over the phone, video conference platforms and face-to-face
  • To prepare all relevant documentation for the validation event
  • To attend the validation event and addressing issues thereafter
  • To create schemes of work, teaching materials, assessment materials and mark schemes and any other relevant course materials for the Foundation in IT
  • To teach the modules of the Foundation Year in IT
