Job Overview: As a City Academic Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all academic aspects of the campuses, ensuring smooth operations, and fostering a conducive learning environment. This role involves direct line management of the Associate Academic Managers (AAMs) and collaboration with various teams to uphold academic standards and drive student success. Reporting to the Head of Academic Services & Student Success (HASSS) you will play a crucial role in formulating reports, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing policies to achieve institutional objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Management:

  • Oversee all academic activities on campus, including curriculum delivery, student assessment, and adherence to academic standards.
  • Monitor the performance of lecturers, ensuring quality teaching and compliance with established academic guidelines.
  • Suggesting and guiding AAMs and Programme Leaders (PLs) to line manage the lecturers and finding the suitable candidates to perform the jobs.
  • Ensuring the induction of the colleges done within the campuses according to company policies and procedures and keeping the record.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to collect course progression reports and populate bi-weekly reports on student performance.
  • Populating monthly report for HASSS where performance of the staff and students based on each cohort need to be highlighted.

Team Management:

  • Working closely with AAMs & PLs, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Regularly monitoring staff performance and report/feedback to relevant departments.
  • Resolve staff queries and concerns related to academic operations, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Regularly monitor campus performance indicators such as retention rates, progression rates and academic standards.
  • Formulate monthly reports on campus performance for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

Policy Implementation:

  • Implement policies and procedures mandated by the Senior Leadership Team to ensure consistency and compliance across academic operations.
  • Stay updated with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to inform policy decisions.

Examination Management:

  • Ensure timely administration of assessments, marking, and grade reporting in accordance with academic calendars and partner university requirements.
  • Conduct internal examination boards as necessary to assess student performance and maintain academic integrity.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, business, or related field.
  • Proven experience in educational management, preferably in similar role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the higher education sector.
