About the role

King’s Foundations is looking for a professional to join our Academic Skills team as a Lecturer in EAP Education and Integrated Academic Skills Coordinator.

This newly created post is designed to support the integration of academic literacy and provision within faculty.

The successful candidate will be an expert in EAP and Learning Development and will be responsible for identifying student needs. They will design, develop and deliver provision to address those needs and will have a strong pedagogical background in academic skills provision, both in person and online.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review existing integrated provision and lead on work to improve and further integrate it.
  • Identify needs and design, develop, and deliver academic skills provision.
  • Create new partnerships and work closely with key stakeholders in King’s Foundations and across the college.

This role will be joining King’s Foundations at an exciting time as we support our teaching staff to transfer over to Academic Education Pathway (AEP) contracts. The position is offered on an AEP contract, reflecting the nature of the role and providing a platform for excellence. The role will be subject to a probationary period of 3 years, in line with other academic roles at the College.

We welcome applications from ambitious EAP, Learning Development or Academic Skills Tutors who want to develop as part of a growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of a cross-College academic literacy and skills offering.

Essential criteria

  • Relevant postgraduate degree (e.g. MA in Education/Educational Management/ TESOL/Applied Linguistics/ or other relevant area).
  • Relevant Level 7 teaching qualification (e.g. Cambridge DELTA, PGCE).
  • Knowledge of the academic literacy needs of students in HE both in-person and online including knowledge or interest in supporting students with effective use of Generative AI tools
  • Experience of effectively managing the needs analysis, design, development and delivery of EAP, academic literacy and academic skills provision alongside or integrated into UG and PG programmes of study.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and take an active role in departmental line management activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and implementing the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Evidence of successfully collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including academics, professional services staff and the student body, to deliver engaging and inclusive academic skills provision. 
  • Fellowship of HEA or willing to work towards it and secure within 3 years.
