The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK’s leading institution for teaching and research in the History of Art and the conservation of paintings and is also home to one of the finest small art galleries in the world. The Courtauld is transitioning through a major capital transformation project and will be continuing over the next five-year period to transform its estate that will make The Courtauld’s world-class artworks, research and teaching accessible to more people – in the UK and internationally.

The Courtauld is looking to recruit two Premises Officers to join our small Estates and Facilities team to be responsible for carrying out a broad range of tasks to support the day-to-day operation of our Vernon Square premises thus, ensuring a welcoming environment for all our students, staff and visitors.

Post 1: 35 hours per week 07:00 to 15:00 hours Monday to Friday

Post 2: 35 hours per week 14:00 to 22:00 hours Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Opening and securing the premises including monitoring security systems and keys.
  • Responding to staff, students, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Distribution of deliveries throughout the premises including general portering.
  • Setting up rooms for teaching, conferences and events.
  • Responding to fire alarms and completing fire compliance checks.
  • Assist with premises health and safety inspections and contractor inductions.
  • Carrying out routine basic maintenance repairs.
  • Complete checks on cleaning, maintenance and space usage.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Good standard of spoken and written English.
  • Experience of working in a similar role in the educational, or the cultural sector.
  • Flexible, organised and a ‘can-do’ approach and able to work alone and in a small team.
  • Basic IT proficiency and able to use MS Office Outlook and CAFM system.
  • A relevant practical building services qualification desirable.
  • Experience of security work and/or SIA Officer Licence desirable.
  • Basic awareness of health and safety related to portering and maintenance tasks.
