We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an ERC Advanced project studying the evolutionary biology of antibiotic resistance led by Craig MacLean.

Antibiotic resistance has emerged as a fundamental threat to health and prosperity. We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to study the evolutionary processes that drive the rise and fall of antibiotic resistance using genomic methods. This will involve analyzing sequence data from bacterial isolates collected during a clinical trial combined and from large scale lab evolution experiments. The postholder will work as part of a large team (computational and experimental postdocs, PhD students, research assistant) with access to cutting-edge experimental and computational facilities. The postholder will have the opportunity to regularly interact with collaborating researchers in Oxford and across Europe.

Grade 7.1 – 7.8: £36,024 - £44,263 per annum – with an Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year (pro rata) to be applied with effect from 1st August 2024 (due to be implemented in the September 2024 payroll and backdated to 1st August 2024)

This is also in addition to any inflationary pay rise which may be agreed nationally through negotiations led by UCEA with the trade unions, which could take effect from 1st August 2024 (backdated if necessary).

Further details of how these changes to pay will be applied will be shared with the successful candidate in due course.
