The Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology at King’s College London is one of the leading centres for Craniofacial Biology worldwide with research focusing on craniofacial and stem cell biology, innovative approaches to regeneration and repair and big data approaches to understand the complexity of development and disease. Our research spans basic, clinical and translational sciences. The Centre offers a vibrant, collaborative, and interactive research and teaching environment in the heart of London. 

About the role:

We seek to appoint a Lecturer in developmental, cell or stem cell biology, genetics or genomics with focus on craniofacial biology and/or human disease modelling. Applicants should be early career scientists with an outstanding research track record and an excellent potential to develop an internationally competitive research programme and to collaborate within the Centre and across King’s.

Successful candidates are expected to establish their independent research group in the Centre, to contribute to our educational programmes and to training the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists, and to support the strategic vision of the Centre and King’s. They will have access to a variety of PhD programmes, as well as mentorship and career development opportunities.

About you: (the candidate)

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  1. PhD qualified in relevant subject area: developmental, cell and stem cell biology, genetics or genomics in relation to craniofacial biology. 
  2. Postdoctoral research experience with excellent publication record including evidence of high-quality collaborative research. 
  3. Clear and ambitious plans for an independent research programme supported by external funding. 
  4. Experience in and/or strong commitment to excellence in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and PhD student supervision including understanding of student needs and how to provide support and guidance. 
  5. Effective organisation and administrative skills 
  6. Excellent communication skills across disciplines to explain complex information effectively, both verbally and in writing, engage different audiences such as students, colleagues and the general public. 
  7. Commitment to continued professional and team development, research integrity and diversity & inclusion 

Desirable criteria

  1. Evidence of attracting external funding for research 
  2. Experience in project management 
  3. Higher Education teaching accreditation 
  4. Evidence of institutional citizenship
