About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Programme Officer (Initial Teacher Training - ITT), working within the School of Education, Communication & Society at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth delivery of our ITT programmes in ECS.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide day-to-day administrative support for our ITT programmes and to act as a first point of contact for students and academic staff. Working in a fast-paced environment your role will involve the organisation of school placements, maintaining accurate student data, and fostering effective communication among students, faculty, and other stakeholders to guarantee a seamless student experience from enrolment to graduation. Collaborating with colleagues, you'll play a key role in planning and coordinating activities, allowing you to expand your expertise in regulations and process improvement.

This is a full-time time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Our School operates a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to spend a minimum of two working days per week on campus.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrated programme administration experience, preferably gained within a Higher Education context.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, enabling independent drafting of documents, virtual learning content, and correspondence tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in numerical analysis, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy when handling complex data, employing a data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT systems, such as Microsoft 365 and student records systems (SITS).
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, adept at meeting tight deadlines and managing competing priorities, with a willingness to seek and utilise support as needed.
  • Customer service experience, coupled with the ability to address complaints and service issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Experience collaborating effectively within a diverse team, demonstrating a proactive approach, and possessing the capability to work autonomously.

Desirable criteria 

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience in the use of databases, student records systems (such as SITS) and website content management systems
  • Experience of using virtual learning environments
  • Dedication to fostering equality and diversity in the workplace.
