Techne Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) is pleased to offer Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding for up to 57 PhD students for September 2025 entry.
We welcome applications from talented individuals working across the arts and humanities to be based at one of nine higher education institutions in London and the south-east, Brunel University, Kingston University, Loughborough University London, Royal Holloway University of London, University of the Arts London, University of Brighton, University of Roehampton, University of Surrey, and the University of Westminster. The world-class research and training environments of these institutions are enhanced by the partnership’s strategic relations with 13 non-HEI partner organisations ranging from The National Archives to the National Trust.
The vision and the training offered by Techne emphasises the interweaving of critical thinking, making, and reflexive action in the craft of research. More information on our areas of study can be found on our website.
There will be an on-line open evening hosted by the University of Westminster on 2nd October 2024 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. This is an opportunity to meet Academics from our institutions in your subject area or from an institution you are interested in studying at. Please register on Eventbrite.
Techne Doctoral Training Partnership is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles throughout all of its processes, from application through to completion of the PhD programme, via our students, supervisors and DTP governance groups. Techne will be holding an on-line application workshop on 22nd October 2024 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm to answer questions about the Techne recruitment cycle and offer support for those completing the Techne application form. Please register on Eventbrite, there will be an option as part of the request to join the Open Evening on 2nd October 2024.
Awards cover UK tuition fees and provide a stipend at the UKRI rate. The UK fees and stipend for 2025/26 have not yet been announced but for the academic year of 2024/25 the UK fees are £4,786 and the stipend is £19,237 (£21,237 if London weighting applies). International students will need to speak to the Administrator at their prospective Techne institution to see whether the difference between the home and international fee can be provided.

Eligibility: These PhDs are open to UK and international students and consist of UK home fees and stipend awards.
