The University of Roehampton London is recruiting to the role of Technical Manager to join our expanding Technical Resources team. This is an exciting time to join our technical service as we embark on a new integrated University wide technical team, with this post taking a leading role across the School of Life and Health Sciences and School of Psychology.

ARE YOU?

  • An experienced technical manager with a hands-on approach who can deliver excellence in the field of life and health sciences.
  • Experienced in leading, developing and motivating a team of specialist technicians.
  • Passionate about enhancing the teaching and learning of students by ensuring that appropriate technical support, specialist facilities and resources are available.
  • Organised, disciplined and self-motivated, with the ability to thrive under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Experienced in the area of health and safety and regulatory compliance for laboratories and clinical settings.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Play a significant part in leading a team of specialist technicians to deliver effective support of academic teaching, research and knowledge exchange.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operational practice that is health and safety and regulatory compliant.
  • Partner with academic leaders within the School of Life and Health Sciences and School of Psychology
  • Work closely with the Director of AV and Technical Resources to contribute to setting the overall standards and vision for the technical service within the academic schools.
  • Be part of a community of technicians and practitioners.

Through exemplary leadership, this role will support and help achieve excellence across the full portfolio of technical support activities. Working across two campuses, this role will closely partner with the School of Life and Health Sciences and School of Psychology, working collaboratively with the academic leadership in each School. The role holder will have strategic and operational oversight of our laboratories and specialist teaching spaces in both schools, covering specialist equipment and spaces ranging from bioscience, biomedical, nutrition sport science laboratories, and biomechanics through to bespoke psychology suites, to simulated healthcare settings.
