We are seeking applications for a Research Project Administrator in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on a fixed-term basis for 9 months to cover the maternity leave of the present post holder. This post offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading UK research group at the University of Sheffield, to support the delivery of EPSRC funded research project and an EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training and WCSCM conference to be hosted by University of Sheffield in 2026.

You will have excellent organisational and IT skills, a willingness to assist team members when needed and an eye for detail and accuracy. You will work closely with the Project Manager and other members of Professional Services, and must be comfortable working with academics, researchers, and postgraduate students. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential. You will also need comprehensive IT skills, including the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, website maintenance and social media. Previous experience of working with Engineering and Physical Science Council projects is desirable, but not essential.

You will provide administrative support for the lead academics and Project Manager; event organisation, including room bookings, arranging catering, distribution of papers and minute-taking; diary management; arranging travel and accommodation; maintaining financial records and processing expense claims; maintaining project websites and documentation; uploading information to funder databases; maintaining contacts lists, and distributing information to project team members.
