This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

Please state in your application the hours and days you would prefer.

We hope to interview for these roles on 30th September, in person at our St Luke’s Campus, Exeter.

Summary of the role
As executive support colleagues in one of the country’s leading universities, we focus on assisting 12 senior leaders to carry out their very demanding roles. This requires us to be committed, professional, efficient “can-do” operators. But first and foremost, we work hard to be human, getting the job done with kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion – for each other, for our reports, and for all the colleagues we work alongside.

The consequence is that our team is generally a happy place to be. With its fast pace, demanding deadlines and conflicting priorities, there will be no shortage of stimulation or job satisfaction. We will utilise all your skills and experience.

You will have significant, recent experience of providing PA / executive / admin support to senior staff including diary management; a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office; accurate typing skills; and a friendly, helpful and professional manner. You will by nature be communicative, proactive and show initiative in managing the unexpected. To thrive here, you must be able to plan and prioritise a busy and varied workload, adapting rapidly and positively to changing demands.

Working as part of this integrated Faculty Operations team, this role will typically (but not exclusively) entail:

  • Executive support to senior management reports,
  • Acting as lead contact for assigned administrative processes.
  • Active contribution to proper maintenance of systems and records.
  • Working closely with other administrators, PAs and leaders across the university.
  • Supporting team activities and providing cover for colleagues as necessary.

You will contribute to a range of key projects and activities, and will be capable of dealing with people at all levels, including leaders, academics and professional support. You will need to become knowledgeable and proficient in administrative support of academic research.

Through exceptional research and teaching, the vibrant and diverse Faculty of Health and Life Sciences aims to improve the lives of millions of people across the world, by translating discoveries into tangible benefits for patients, their families and society and training effective professionals and practitioners. In most of our activities, Faculty Operations team members are the “face” of the Faculty and University for colleagues at all levels internally and externally, so you will need to take an active interest in developing an understanding of relevant areas of the business, as well as keeping abreast of changes and developments in the University and the Higher Education sector as a whole.

If you think you’d fit with our ethos, we would love to hear from you. Don’t forget to tell us in your application the hours and days you would prefer.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role.
