Supervisor - Maintenance Officer

To assist the Direct Labour Operatives (DLO) Manager and Estates Officer (DLO) in planning, organizing and supervising staff to the whole DLO team but especially in relation to their own trade, (Team of maintenance officers), so staff can provide an effective and efficient maintenance repair service to the Queens University Estate. The postholder will also carry out general maintenance activities throughout the campus, work on a callout rota, assist other staff by providing information and technical support and act as a point of contact for information.

You will assist in improvement measures and procedures within maintenance including acting in a lead role in the continued implementation and use of Planon (Computer-Aided Facilities Management System - CAFM), maintenance procedures, QFIS, safety procedures and systems, permit to work systems, asset listing, adoption of development projects and asbestos management.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

• Educated to a recognised trade apprenticeship NVQ Level 2 or, Time served in a Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or Building Construction/Surveying related discipline or equivalent.
• Substantial recent relevant post qualification experience to involve each of the following:

• • Trade experience in maintaining buildings, services & systems in a similar environment to the Univeristy.
  • Supervisory experience of coordinating staff, labour and materials in a similar environment to the Univeristy.
• Valid driving license.
• Able to attend out of hours emergency call outs and work on a callout rota.

The role requires that candidates have a valid driving license because part of your duties will involve being mobile around our campuses, reacting to emergencies in a company vehicle. Our campus buildings stretch across South Belfast, Titanic Quarter, Portaferry and as far as Mourne Cottage near Kilkeel. You will also be required to meet contractors to work along side them and complete minor work projects.
