Academic Registry is one of the University’s largest Departments providing an expert central service supporting students throughout their journey from enquiry to award. Working closely with Academic Schools we also offer a point of contact for external agencies.

Main duties and responsibilities

The main purpose of the role is to provide team leadership and administrative support for a range of student records related processes throughout the academic year. The postholder will work collaboratively with individuals and departments across the University, including Academic Schools, students, Academic Registry teams and external stakeholders, such as Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring their team members carry out their duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies and procedures at all times.  Line management responsibility will include recruitment, appraisal, day to day line management and staff development of their team.

Full training will be provided and there will be the opportunity to assist at key University events throughout the year.

Skills and experience required

The successful candidate will have experience of managing work activities which require a high level of collaborative working, time management and negotiating skills in a busy environment.  You will have proven organisation skills, ability to reconcile conflicting demands and to work under pressure with minimum supervision.  In addition, you will be able to produce work finished to an extremely high standard, including close attention to detail.  As this role has line manager responsibilities you must be able to motivate and to mentor staff, building and leading teams.  To be successful in this role you also must be able to operate a flexible, proactive approach, use initiative in delivering service standards, have excellent negotiating skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Knowledge and experience of student records administration in Further or Higher Education institutions would be advantageous.

Qualifications required

Minimum of a degree (or equivalent qualification) or have proven relevant administrative experience
