Your role as a Building Attendant.

This role will support the day to day running of University buildings, including portering, and setting up classrooms and meeting rooms across the campus to meet customer requirements. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, providing information and assistance where required and will be responsible for locking and unlocking buildings and testing fire alarms. Other duties include the collection and delivery of internal mail, identifying and reporting maintenance issues, inspecting fixtures and fittings ensuring that excellent customer service is provided at all times.

It is essential for this role that candidates have experience of working in a similar customer facing environment and have some supervisory experience. Ideally you will also have experience of setting up meeting rooms, knowledge of testing fire and security alarm systems and have cleaning experience gained within a similar environment.

Hours of work are part time, 24 per week, (4 shifts/6 hours each day mainly Wednesday to Saturday) working between the hours 9:30am-3:30pm on Wednesday to Friday and between 1:30pm - 8:00pm on Saturday, on a permanent 52 weeks of the year contract. Flexibility will be required.

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to attend statutory training courses within 6 months commencing employment and any refresher training required as part of the role. The department have planned training courses throughout the year and there is an option to attend either during a typical week, Monday to Friday or set weekend dates, Saturday and Sunday, within the year.
