About the College:

Homerton is the newest and one of the biggest Cambridge Colleges, and draws on over 250 years of commitment to education and public service. Set in spacious grounds in the south of the city, Homerton is renowned as being a friendly, forward-thinking community, with a mixture of historic and modern facilities. Over 650 postgraduates make up around half of our varied and vibrant student population, reading for the full range of degrees (including significant numbers of part-time and PGCE students), and from all around the world. We aim to foster a sense of belonging amongst our diverse student body, and are committed to widening participation in our University for those from all backgrounds. Alongside striving for academic excellence, we are mindful of the importance of research in practice, and the relationships between postgraduate studies and wider society. We believe education and learning is a whole-person activity, and wellbeing is integral to personal, local, and global thriving.

About the role:

Homerton College invites applications for a part-time Postgraduate Admissions Tutor. The role will expand capacity in supporting our postgraduate students; and will help us to foreground and invest in postgraduate widening participation work, a strategic focus.

The Postgraduate Admissions Tutor will play a key role as part of our Postgraduate Tutor team, and will in particular work on reviewing applications to the College; on developing enhanced transition programmes for postgraduate students; and on fundraising and philanthropic initiatives to support and recruit postgraduate students.

The post-holder is expected to take a collaborative and flexible approach to their work and will have relevant experience with postgraduate students in Higher Education, and understanding of the contemporary student environment, alongside University of Cambridge and UK postgraduate admissions processes. Previous experience of postgraduate admissions decision-making, and experience of fundraising, is beneficial but is not essential.

The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a track record of informed decision-making and judgement. As the role requires interaction with a wide range of people, excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people are key. Some attendance at evening/weekend events will be required.
