The new part-time post (0.4 FTE) is available from 1st November 2024 on a fixed term basis for 1 year with possible extension depending on funding. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

Summary of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the digital vision and implementation of the Endangered Wooden Architecture Programme, which focuses on the digital preservation of critically threatened wooden structures globally. We are looking for a dynamic and highly effective person to coordinate the ingest of architectural data related to 3D photogrammetry, 3D models and other advanced surveying methods for deposition within the EWAP archive and Open Heritage 3D.

This wide-ranging role entails the processing of datasets and metadata, the development of workflows to optimize spatial and 3D data quality for archiving and assuring interoperability across several 3D systems. You will be responsible for liaising with and providing advice to a range of teams around the world on data processing and methods of field survey ensuring high quality data recording. The role would suit someone who has extensive experience in this field and who is interested in supporting different teams around the world to preserve their architectural and cultural heritage.

EWAP is an ambitious grant giving programme that aims to support the documentation of and access to endangered wooden architecture from around the world. The programme has already provided £2.3 million to 28 projects in 19 countries, recording 575 structures in the form of architectural pictures and drawings, 3D photogrammetry and ethnographic studies.
