The role

We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates to undertake the role of a level 3 Research Technician within the Biomedical Sciences Building. The successful candidate, under the direction of the Technical Manager, will provide technical support for staff and students across 3 schools - Physiology Pharmacology & Neuroscience, Biochemistry & Cellular Molecular Medicine.

What will you be doing?

This post provides technical support for research activities associated within the 3 schools. You will help to maintain laboratory facilities and supplies, including equipment and consumables, support academic and student research, work within a CL3 containment laboratory and liaise with any relevant stakeholders (e.g. Maintenance, IT services or external contacts). You will also be responsible for elements of Health and Safety such as up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures that comply with appropriate health and safety requirements. You will also assist the Leading Research Technician & Technical Manger as and when required.

You should have:

  • Relevant technical experience or work experience in a relevant technical role.
  • Previous experience of working in Biomedical Sciences or a relevant scientific environment.
  • A clear understanding of research laboratory issues/considerations.
  • Experience in providing technical support to undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
