We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated member of staff to work with us as a Library and LRC Student Intern on a Fixed term contract.

Job Purpose:

Applications are being invited from new and returning students with experience of providing excellent customer service. You will provide support in the use of print and online library resources to all service users.

Key Accountabilities:

  • This exciting opportunity will have you partaking in a wide range of responsibilities Supporting students and staff in the effective use of print and online library resources
  • Providing ICT support to users in the Library and LRC as required (logging on, printing documents, use of storage media, supporting students in using the basic functions of Microsoft Office etc.)
  • Ensuring a timely response to all incoming telephone calls and emails for the Library and LRC, dealing with routine matters, taking messages, responding, or referring them elsewhere as appropriate to ensure high levels of customer service
  • Operating the Library Management System (loans, holds, and use of the online discovery system)
  • Handling enquiries effectively
  • Processing cash/credit transactions with due regard to security of cash and personal information

Essential Criteria:

You must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

You must have experience of working in a customer service environment.

You must have good ICT skills, and experience of using basic Microsoft Office packages.

Please note: the successful post holder will need to pass a satisfactory PVG Scheme check through Disclosure Scotland and a Financial Check prior to commencing employment.
