We are seeking a creative and highly-organised person to fill the role of LD4D Communications and Engagement Officer. LD4D is a worldwide community of members and partners working to improve livestock data and evidence and support the transition to more sustainable and include livestock systems, particularly in low-and middle-income countries. 

The opportunity

This role will support LD4D communications, member engagement and the collaboration among our international community. LD4D members and partners include policy makers, livestock industry, scientific/academic, and project implementors. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the implementation of a new member engagement strategy.
  • Developing communications materials and multimedia outreach campaigns to disseminate outputs from key events
  • Review and update content on the website to strengthen member engagement
  • Managing day-to-day social media and website content.
  • Contribute to on-campus knowledge exchange activities to showcase research 

The position is based within SEBI-Livestock, the Centre for Supporting Evidence Based Interventions in Livestock,  which is hosted by the Roslin Institute and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. SEBI-Livestock offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities for learning, growth and the chance to contribute to addressing real-world challenges.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate projects, determine priorities, set deadlines, and complete projects in a globally facing multi-disciplinary programme.
  • Excellent communication skills including strong English-language verbal and writing skills. 
  • Experience in a relevant role with evidence of successful delivery of communications and engagement activities.
  • Experience organising successful in-person and/or virtual events, and technical proficiency running events using Microsoft Teams and Zoom. 
  • Experience developing multimedia communications products (e.g., graphics, videos, factsheets) and demonstrated ability to use design and editing tools.
