You will take an active approach to the portfolio of potential grant applications you are responsible for, developing good working relationships with research staff, and will act as a source of expertise and advice on externally funded research grants. Reporting to the Research Development Manager (Pre Award), the Research Development Coordinator will support our academic community by providing specialist advice and guidance in supporting externally funded research applications from costing the initial project, approval and submission. You’ll also work closely with the Research Development Managers and Business Development Managers and other professional service units in the university.

About the team
Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides dedicated, specialist support to Northumbria’s research community throughout the research grant lifecycle to help sustain Northumbria’s position as a research-intensive modern university.
The Research Development Team provides advice on sourcing potential funding; aiding proposal development; developing a budget; compliance with the University’s financial regulations; providing guidance through the authorisation process; providing training to researchers and signposting researchers to appropriate advice across both the Service and the wider University
About you

To be successful in the role you will have experience of supporting grant funding applications, building robust project budgets, working in a high-energy deadline focussed environment and building effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. You will have a good knowledge of the regulatory and compliance landscape applying for research funding; be a team player who is also able to work independently to ensure a range of applications can be submitted in a timely manner; have strong problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
