The Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) has a national remit to research the best ways to provide health care, and to train those working in the health services in research methods. Most research projects aim to find out whether developments within the health service really are effective, efficient and appropriate. There are approximately 75 members of staff, working together cohesively, with everyone’s contribution valued. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and efficient.
A part-time Research Assistant or Research Fellow with experience of behaviour change theories, models and frameworks is required to work on a trials methodology research project investigating which behaviour change techniques are used, implicitly, within consultations where clinical trial recruitment is discussed. This work package forms part of an international collaborative funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR). Contributions to other trials methods projects exploring recruitment and retention may also be required. The post is available until March 2025 in the first instance.
Individuals appointed as a Research Assistant will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale, £31,396 - £34,980 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Individuals appointed as a Research Fellow will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £37,099 - £40,521 per annum, pro rata.
Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and probation period.
This role is based in the UK and as such the successful candidate will be required to live and work in the UK.

Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK. This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route under the UKVI immigration rules but is dependent on factors specific to the candidate and if tradeable points can be used under the rules.
